El Sereno 4-H is one of the eleven 4-H clubs in Santa Clara County. It is open to both boys and girls ranging in age from 5 to 18 years old. Club meetings are held monthly in Saratoga, and projects meet in various venues in the surrounding area. The majority of out meetings are in-person as of January 2022, except for a select few of our projects. Our members are very active in the county and state levels of 4-H. We frequently participate in community service, and offer countless opportunities for members to improve their confidence, public speaking, leadership, character, and contribution. We believe that all of those skills can be learned in a fun and friendly environment, with youth teaching youth.
Our club boasts a multitude of 'projects' that specialize in different subjects, such as guinea pigs, cooking, agribusiness (raising chickens), and arts and crafts. Most projects meet once a month, but some meet more or less frequently. There is a small membership fee when joining 4-H, after which members can join unlimited projects for no cost.
Financial Assistance Application Forms can be completed online here. The form should be filled out by the parent/guardian of the youth. For more information, see our Frequently Asked Questions.
All the members of El Sereno meet once per month for a club meeting and social activity. We also frequently work together on outreach and community service in a fun and engaging environment, with 4-H friends that will last a lifetime. 4-H is truly a community, and many members form close friendships with members of other local 4-H clubs.
You might also see El Sereno members at the Santa Clara County Fair each year competing and having fun with their animals and stills exhibits! This is an event that our members look forward to for the whole year, and each spends countless hours preparing themselves for the competitions. As one member once said, "The Santa Clara County Fair is the best holiday of the year!"
