Here is a list of the projects that were offered by El Sereno 4-H in the 2022-2023 year. The majority of these projects will be returning in the new 2023-2024 4-H year. Official list of projects for the new 4-H year will be coming out in September.

El Sereno Project List
Rabbit Project
Location: In-Person
Description: Join the rabbit project to improve your knowledge and skill of a rabbit while we get to play games, watch videos, and share our own experiences of bunnies. We will learn health, anatomy, feed and grooming, and knowledge about the animal. In the end we will show off all of our hard work at the Santa Clara County Fair. And do not worry! You don't need a pet rabbit to join our project. We welcome several 4-H members to our club who don't own rabbits but can still have as much fun. |
Cavy (Guinea PIg) Project
Location: In-Person
Description: Join the cavy project to improve your knowledge and skill of a cavy (guinea pig) while we play games, watch videos, and share experiences of guinea pigs. We will learn health, anatomy, feed and grooming, and knowledge about the animal. In the end we will show off all of our hard work at the Santa Clara County Fair. And similar to the rabbit project, you don't need a pet cavy (guinea pig) to join this project. We welcome several 4-H members to our club who don't own cavies but can still have as much fun. |
Agribusiness Project (Raising Baby Chickens)
Location: In-Person & Virtual
Description: We are the El Sereno Agribusiness Poultry Project. In this project youth will be raising and selling baby chickens for 2-3 sales! We will also learn the business skills needed to sell the chicks. You will have the option to host baby chicken for 10 day in this project before selling them, or you have the option to just come to the sales and sell the chicks and get to see them there. Arts and Crafts Project
Location: In-Person
Description: Here we will learn how to create various arts & craft projects. We will be creating gifts for the holidays and cools crafts to decorate your house with! Due to Covid-19 project leaders will provide you a supply list and potential places to buy the supplies, but must be purchased separately by individual project members. |
Cooking Project
Location: Campbell
Description: In this project we will have fun cooking for friends and family while exploring cooking skills and food safety. This year we will be focusing on the art of outdoor/BBQ cooking. Our foods will all either be BBQ’d or cooked over an open fire and will reflect the season or holiday at the time. Foods will range from appetizers to main courses and desserts. We will also focus on creating a fun display that you can enter in the Santa Clara County Fair in 2024! |
MARKET SHEEP Project
Location: McClellan Ranch in Cupertino
Description: Love sheep? Well this is a project for you whether that means you have sheep or don't. In this project you will learn to raise and care for sheep, wash and shear, and how to care for newborn lambs. And at the end of the year if you have a sheep you can show off all the hard work you have done at the Santa Clara County Fair! (Must be at least 9 years of age)

Pygmy Goat Project
Location: McClellan Ranch in Cupertino
Description: Do you love goats? Do you love small animals? Then the pygmy goat project is for you! The pygmy project is the only goat project you can join as a Clover! Want to learn about pygmy goats? Learn how to care for them, learn pygmy goat facts, what it takes to raise goats, what showmanship is all about, and have fun going on goat walks.

Public Speaking Project
Location: Campbell
Description: The Public Speaking Project will provide a welcoming and fun environment to learn the fundamentals of speaking in front of a group. Members will learn about how to be good communicators through a combination of games, role play exercises, video critiques, and individual practice. We will also prepare for the County Presentation Day. This project is for all ages, and beginners and younger members especially are encouraged to join to start building their skillset.

Collections Project
Share your love of collecting baseball and/or Pokémon cards with other members. Learn how to find and track any value of your collection; visit a card show and talk with experts; prepare an exhibit for the county Fair.
Drawing/Fine Arts Project
Our goal is to increase each youth's interest in fine art or drawing. We want to give them access to express their creative abilities and help them expand on.
Leadership- This will be gained from each youth as they advance their ability, and then they can help others learn what they have learned.
The youth will experience hands-on learning with the arts. We will let them lead with what they have interest in. We can guide the youth in the basics of beginning art

Baking Project
Location: ZOOM
Description: During each meeting you will be given step by step, follow along instructions for the recipe of the month. A list of ingredients will be given to project members 1 week (or earlier) before the meeting date. Members will be responsible for getting their own ingredients for each meeting.
The items needed include basic baking utensils/pans, measuring cups/spoons, hand mixer/standing mixer, and a supervising adult to assist you with the oven.
